The Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network (HNECC PHN) has been successful in securing funding for a national pilot program through the Department of Health and Aged Care: Supporting Outreach Healthcare for Victim/Survivors of Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence (DFSV).
This important pilot program recognises that women and children residing in crisis accommodation due to DFSV face significant barriers in accessing appropriate primary health care—care that is essential for addressing physical, preventative, and developmental health needs across the lifespan.
The pilot will run until 30 June 2027 and will see the PHN commission a multi-sector, multidisciplinary outreach team to deliver trauma-informed healthcare within refuges located within the LGAs of Newcastle, Maitland, and Lake Macquarie.
This is a unique opportunity to co-design and deliver an integrated health response that meets the immediate and long-term health needs of women and children impacted by DFSV.
Only organisations that operate refuge accommodation in the Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and Maitland LGAs will be invited to apply to host an Integration Coordinator for the multidisciplinary health team.
