Project goals
The goals of this project are to procure a multi-year energy market simulation platform software license to enhance the capabilities of the Energy Data & Analytics (ED&A) branch. This software will support the creation of a plausible integrated view of likely future outcomes using datasets and forecasting tools, which is essential for informing policy decisions and providing inputs for cost-benefit analysis. The tender aims to secure a contract for a maximum of three years. The software will enable the ED&A branch to perform sophisticated energy market modelling, which is crucial for supporting public policy objectives and ensuring that decisions are backed by reliable evidence.
Scope
The software must be capable of modelling the National Electricity Market (NEM), focusing on the gross pool energy-only market, and should model both capacity expansion and dispatch over a minimum 20-year horizon. It should also integrate with AEMO reports, provide support and updates, allow for customisation and constraints, and offer extensive presentation and export features. The deliverables include a software license providing access to the software for the duration of the agreement and, if applicable, the provision of a National Electricity Market (NEM) dataset.
