This Expression of Interest (EOI) is being used to establish registers of suitable contractors for the construction of Stage 1 of the Wollombi Road Upgrade project. Applicants are invited to make an initial submission on the EOI documentation, and successful respondents can then be invited to tender by selective tender.
Cessnock City Council (CCC) in nearing completion of the detailed design phase for the upgrade of a 2.9km section of Wollombi Road to improve safety and ease traffic congestion. This 2.9km section is referred to as Stage 1 and is part of the larger 4.0km upgrade of Wollombi Road.
This Stage 1 upgrade will increase the travel lanes capacity between Abbotsford Street, Bellbird and West Avenue in Cessnock, to provide two lanes each way and as well as associated intersection improvements. The upgrade will also include new and upgraded cycleways, footpaths, Kerbs, and bus stops.
This upgrade of Wollombi Road will deliver high-quality, strategic infrastructure to support the growth of the local community needs. The primary objective of the project is to accommodate current and forecasted traffic growth and to alleviate congestion.
A compulsory briefing meeting will be held on Tuesday 30th April 2024 via Microsoft Teams.
The meeting will take place 9:00am and is anticipated to take around 60 minutes.
