One of the main roles of the Advanced Training Committee in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine is to monitor and assess individual trainee progress in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine for Australasia.
There is currently one Fellow position vacant on the Advanced Training Committee in the role of Appointed Member – Adult Medicine Representative preferred. This is a great opportunity for Fellows who are willing to support current Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine Advanced Trainees and the training program. In this role, you will help shape the physicians of the future and positively contribute to the direction, workforce and culture of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine in Australia (and Aotearoa New Zealand).
You will be involved in reviewing and monitoring of the training program requirements, assessment and curricula in consultation with the relevant Specialty Societies and other stakeholders, and recommend changes to the College Education Committee, via the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee and Paediatrics Division Education Committee.
Other key responsibilities of the Advanced Training Committee include but are not limited to:
- monitor training of, and provide support to, supervisors in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine.
- accredit Advanced Training sites or programs in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine.
- assess recognition of prior learning.
- advise on matters relating to Overseas Trained Physicians, as requested.
- modify individual training requirements, as appropriate, in accordance with college policies and procedures.
- assess and provide advice on specialist recognition in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine for Fellows in the Paediatric and Child Health Division or the Adult Medicine Division who have not completed the Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine.
- Advanced Training program.
Committee meetings are held twice per year with 1 face-to-face meeting which is usually held in November. There are also ad hoc working days, usually held twice per year via zoom.
Members are appointed to the ATC for a three-year term and can be renewed for a further term.
