Community Language Schools Accreditation 2024-26

⁠⁠⁠The Department of Education (DE), through its Community Language Schools (CLS) Funding Program, provides annual funding for each eligible student enrolled at and regularly attending an accredited CLS. To be accredited (and eligible for department funding), CLS are subject to a stringent accreditation process to demonstrate their capacity to deliver high-quality language programs and meet child safety requirements.

CLS are accredited for three years, after which time they must re‑apply for accreditation. The application process occurs in the year before the accreditation period begins (i.e. CLS must apply in 2022 to be accredited from 2023), and accreditation is granted for three years (regardless of when in the accreditation cycle CLS applied).

The current accreditation cycle commenced in 2022 and expires at the end of 2024. All 183 currently accredited CLS will need to re-apply for accreditation for three years (i.e. 2025-27) to be eligible to apply for funding. As part of this process, CLS will be required to provide accreditation documentation relevant to each campus (e.g. Emergency Management Plans), noting many CLS operate from multiple campuses (see DE website for full list of CLS and campuses).

In addition, accredited CLS that want to operate from a new campus must seek formal accreditation approval from the department (via the external supplier) before applying for funding for students attending those campuses. Around 15 new campus accreditation applications are received each year.

The DE Supplier Portal

The Department of Education’s Oracle Supplier Portal allows suppliers to access and respond to procurement opportunities from a number of Education portfolio entities.
