Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠Overview

The 2023-24 Round of Animal Welfare Grants offers funding to eligible not-for-profit organisations, for animal welfare projects and activities that improve the well-being, care and responsible management of animals in the Northern Territory.

The objective of the Animal Welfare Grant is to:

  • improve animal wellbeing.
  • raise community awareness of animal welfare responsibilities.
  • help promote and improve animal management practice, particularly in remote communities.
Who can apply
Funding is available to not-for-profit organisations only. To be eligible for funding an organisation must

  • be a Territory Enterprise
  • be an Australian entity.
  • be registered and fully compliant with its obligations as a not-for-profit

Available funding

Applicants can apply for grants of up to $30,000, for projects and activities that align with the Animal Welfare Grant objectives.

What can be funded

Finite projects and activities with outcomes that align with the Animal Welfare Fund grant program objectives and meet the eligibility and application requirements will be assessed for funding.

What can't be funded

  • projects or activities that have commenced or been completed prior to being approved by the Department.
  • projects or activities which do not align with the Animal Welfare Grant objectives.
  • wages and administration costs
  • lobbying, activist activities or animal rights campaigns
  • services of unregistered vets
  • already purchased goods, legal fees, overseas or interstate travel, motor vehicles
