The University invites you to respond to this RFI for the Research Cloud Technology Project Phase 1 Proof of Concept. The University is particularly interested in the user experience and performance advancements that have been made by relevant suppliers in the research computing space.
CONTEXT:
In line with our 2032 Strategy to be one of the world's very best teaching and research universities, our researchers need a world-class research computing solution. Specifically, the 'Research Cloud Technology' project (RCT) seeks to identify fit-for-purpose technology to support our researchers' bespoke computing requirements for at least the next 5 to 10 years.
The program aims to implement a critical technology for technological innovation, economic growth, and scientific discovery. High-performance computers empower researchers to tackle complex problems, explore new frontiers, and accelerate discoveries across various disciplines.
Future Requirements & Scope Review
ICT and PVC-RI conducted a review of the required services to be explored during the RFI, with the following high-level capability areas to be tested:
1. High-performance computing
2. Virtual desktops
3. Kubernetes (software platform)
4. Edge computing
5. Commercial cloud
OBJECTIVES:
The primary objectives of this RFI are as follows:
1. To gain a comprehensive understanding of your company's capabilities, experience, and capacity to meet our needs.
2. To shortlist potential partners for further RFT (Tender) process and possible collaboration.
