Tender Description
The Bookmark Creek Complex forms one of the key projects to be delivered under the Sustaining Riverland Environments (SRE) Program. Bookmark Creek is an anabranch of the River Murray and is of social, economic, cultural and environmental value. The current condition of the creek is degraded, with little potential for a significant step-change in ecological value without investment.
The specific objectives of the Bookmark Creek Infrastructure project are:
- Greater control and variation of flows into Bookmark Creek from the River Murray
- Fast flowing habitat for large bodied native fish (e.g. the iconic Murray Cod)
- Better environmental outcomes from increased hydraulic diversity and connectivity for fish
- Enhanced social, economic and recreational benefits associated with improved connectivity and amenity.
The contractor will complete works on:
1. An Inlet Regulating structure which incorporates:
- 2 Layflat gates
- A small 3 bay vertical slot fishway
- A canoe chute and portage ramps
- A pedestrian bridge capable of passing service vehicles (up-to 15 tonne for CFS)
2. Upgrading Nelwart Street Bridge to provide unimpeded flows along the creek and into the River Murray.
