⁠⁠⁠Expressions of interest are open to join the 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examinations Review Expert Advisory Group.

The RACP is seeking to appoint a third party (non-Fellow) Examinations expert (who would be appointed as Chair) and a Trainee to its 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examinations Review Expert Advisory Group, with relevant skills and experience to review the structural, design, delivery or assessment of, to complement those of the other Committee members.

Applicants should:

  • provide relevant skills and expertise to the Committee
  • not represent any particular organisation
  • be prepared to devote the time to prepare for and attend Committee meetings on a pro bono basis.

The 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examinations Review Expert Advisory Group is an Advisory Group of the Board charged with the responsibility of assisting the Board to discharge its responsibilities in respect of:

  1. The purpose of 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examinations Expert Advisory Group is to conduct a review the 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examination in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand and determine if there were any structural, design, delivery or assessment issues which adversely impacted the effective conduct and outcome of that examination.
  2. The 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examinations Expert Advisory Group shall conduct the review contemplated in these Terms of Reference and provide a comprehensive report to the Board which deals with the matters set out below. The Expert Advisory Group will be supported by senior College staff and externally appointed advisors in relation to specific matters requiring technical advice. The 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examinations Expert Advisory Group must conduct a review of the following matters (including providing recommendations)

       -Review of whether the structure, design, delivery and assessment of the 2022 Paediatric Clinical examination in Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand adversely impacted the effective conduct and outcome of that examination

       -The review must consider the long case and short case structure of that 2022 Paediatric Clinical examination and structure for appealing examination outcomes.

        -Review of training for examiners for unconscious bias, also taking into account small trainee groups and other factors where identity of the candidates may be ascertained.

        -Whether the implementation of the examination structure, design or delivery of the 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examination resulted in unconscious or inadvertent bias against groups of candidates on a racial basis.

The 2022 Paediatric Clinical Examinations Review Expert Advisory Group meets up to a minimum of 6 monthly meetings and will meet by teleconference, face to face or videoconference according to its Terms of Reference.

Meetings run for an estimated maximum of 3 hours per meeting.
