Tender Description

Te Whatu Ora, in partnership with Te Aka Whai Ora, is seeking suppliers to deliver services that will establish a Rights Based Approach to Healthcare for Intersex Children and Young People, and their Whānau.

This opportunity is to design and implement four service components:

• best practice guidelines - developing best practice guidelines for the provision of health care for children and young people with IVSC

• training services and workforce development - supporting and upskilling health professionals to use and continuously improve the best practice guidelines

• peer and psychosocial support - establishing these support services for children and young people with IVSC and their whānau

• information resources - providing children and young people with IVSC and their whānau with accessible and appropriate information to make informed decisions about their health care.

This is the first of a two-stage process of a Registration of Interest (ROI) followed by a Request for Proposal (RFP), for all four service components.

Respondents are able to submit an ROI for a single service component or any combination of the service components. After evaluation of the ROI responses, the successful respondents will be invited to participate in the next step.

Background

Budget 2022 provided funding to develop a rights-based approach to the health care of intersex children and young people.

The four service components will contribute to the health system becoming more equitable, accessible, cohesive and people-centred, while strengthening the ability of regulatory bodies and commissions to uphold complaints.

Realising these outcomes requires a collective approach able to embrace and safely work with differences in perspectives, beliefs, values and worldviews.

Children and young people with IVSC and their whānau and the health workforce that serves them come from all socioeconomic backgrounds, races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, faiths, political ideologies, and localities.

We seek suppliers able to manage and evolve collaborative working across multiple professions, disciplines, cultures, government and non-government organisations and locations to ensure effective healthcare services are within the reach of all children and young people with IVSC and their whānau.
