Summary
Expressions of interest are open to Fellows and advanced trainees to form Curriculum Review Groups (CRGs) and help review and revise draft competency-based curricula for advanced training.
Description
This is an opportunity to shape the future of training for the following Advanced Training specialties in 2023. Fellows and advanced trainees from the following specialties are invited to apply:
- Addiction Medicine
- Community Child Health
- Endocrinology
- General Pediatrics
- Medical Oncology
- Nuclear Medicine
- Occupational and Environmental Medicine
- Palliative Medicine
- Public Health Medicine
- Respiratory Medicine
- Sleep Medicine
About the project
Advanced Training Curricula Renewal is a multi-year project to transform the College’s medical education programs. Specialty curricula and program requirement handbooks are being redeveloped with a focus on competency-based training (PDF), supported by programmatic assessment (PDF) approaches.
About the role
If you are an RACP member and have:
- expertise and/or interest in curriculum/training program design and development
- knowledge of or interest in the current state of the training program in your specialty
- experience actively participating as a member of a committee or working group (RACP committee or similar)
- motivation and ability to represent the interests of a particular stakeholder group, if applicable (e.g., trainees)
We invite you to submit an expression of interest for membership of the CRG.
The CRG’s key responsibilities are to:
- evaluate the current state of the training program and make recommendations about how it can be improved.
- review and revise the new curriculum according to the RACP curriculum model, including curriculum standards and learning, teaching and assessment programs
- plan a consultation on the new curriculum, including mapping relevant stakeholders.
- review the draft curriculum and make recommendations for changes in response to stakeholder feedback.
- plan implementation of the new curriculum.
The CRG will have up to 12 members and membership is voluntary.
The estimated time required of members in this Group is between 6-20 in-session hours, via Zoom and/or face-to-face workshop, between August and September. Out-of-session content development and review work will also be required.
Fellows who spend time participating in the CRG can claim the time as Continuing Professional Development (CPD) under Category 2 Reviewing Performance.
