Lang Memorial 50m Pool Kingaroy - Lining or Surface Finish Options
Tender ID: 529628
Tender Details
Tender Description
The WJ Lang memorial pool was built in 1952 and was the first Olympic-sized swimming pool in Queensland.
The pool is now aged and presents several structural and maintenance challenges prompting Council to consider the future direction of the facility. A key challenge is that the pool is leaking, with regular repairs keeping the loss to around 8000 l/day. Water loss has been as high as 40000 l/day subject to seasonal conditions.
Council recently prepared a Master plan for Kingaroy Memorial Park which included a Masterplan design for the WJ Lang Memorial Pool. Stage 1 of the WJ Lang Memorial Pool Master plan provides for lining of the existing pool to control water loss and prolong the working life of the pool until such time as Stage 2 of the development proceeds and the pool is replaced.
South Burnett Regional council is seeking to engage a suitably qualified consultant to review the options available to refinish the pool interior and to provide a comparison of benefits and costs associated with each option.
