The OTP Assessment Subcommittee, Adult Medicine & Chapters, seeks expressions of interest from Adult Medicine Fellows for the role of Chair.
Description
Fellows from the Adult Medicine Division in Australia are invited to express their interest in joining the Overseas Trained Physicians (OTP) Assessment Subcommittee, Adult Medicine & Chapters as the Chair.
The Chair provides leadership and expertise in OTP matters in the Division in Australia and chairs the Adult Medicine & Chapters OTP Assessment Subcommittee, of which they are a member. This position will also grant a sitting member role on the OTP Committee, which oversees the OTP assessment Subcommittees and is involved with policy and making changes/improvements to guidelines. The Chair will also represent OTP on the Adult Medicine Division Education Committee (AMDEC).
Key responsibilities:
- interview OTPs to understand their qualifications, training, and experience
- determine and modify requirements for OTPs to reach the level of an Australian-trained physician or paediatrician, in accordance with guidelines and policies set by the Medical Board of Australia (MBA) and RACP
- provide expertise about OTP assessment to the MBA, College staff and other College Committees
- monitor OTPs progression to Fellowship
- advise on key initiatives, projects, and educational developments requested by the OTP Unit or Professional Practice
Members are appointed to the Subcommittee for an initial 2 or 3-year term. The existing Chair finishes his maximum membership term in late July and will support the transition to a new Chair.
Existing RACP committee members appointed before 2022 follow 2-year terms (max 3 terms, 6 years total). New committee members appointed from 2022 onwards follow 3-year terms (max 2 terms, 6 years total).
The Subcommittee holds 1 face-to-face meeting in Sydney and up to 11 videoconferences per year.
