Access Producer / Consultant

⁠⁠⁠The Australia Council for the Arts (Australia Council, the Council) is the Australian Government’s principal arts investment, development, and advisory body. We are seeking proposals from suitably experienced consultant(s) to undertake the scope of works on internal accessibility.

The purpose of the consultancy is to work with key teams to enhance the Council’s internal accessibility coordination, resources, and capability; and further embed access into systems, workflows, and culture. The scope of work includes:

- Engage with key Australia Council teams to document current activity, capability, and resources, and identify gaps

- Collate, consolidate and update resources, processes, checklists, information, and case examples into content for a central hub for staff (SharePoint)

- Review and update the Council’s induction materials and messaging on accessibility and disability

- Provide advice on good practice to teams supporting staff and stakeholders with access requirements

- Assist with systems improvements, including documentation and reporting on access provision

- Report back to the Council on insights and areas for further development.

We are looking for a consultant or consultants with broad skillsets, experience, and expertise in the following:

- Accessibility and disability services

- Communications/content production

- Production of accessible resources

- Stakeholder engagement

- Relevant technologies/applications for information sharing.

The consultant(s) will need to demonstrate how their work practice incorporates the lived experience of disability. Preferred consultant(s) will have experience in producing and communicating accessible content for stakeholders with diverse needs. Experience working with audio/visual content will be beneficial.

The consultant(s) may work remotely but will be expected to undertake a number of key activities at the Australia Council premises in Pyrmont, NSW. Scheduling of Page 2 of 20 activities to be undertaken on site can be agreed upon between the consultant and the Council at the commissioning meeting and included in the revised project plan.
