Council is committed to supporting Skipton’s future by creating sustainable communities, through the development of a vision and strategic direction for the town.
There is a need to review Skipton to understand its need for long-term land uses, to support the future growth and development of the town over a 15-20-year horizon. A Structure Plan for Skipton will help position the town to capitalise on future development opportunities and provide clear direction on sustainable growth. It will direct and promote residential growth, protect the Mt Emu creek environs, and plan for the growth of commercial, industrial and tourism opportunities.
A project working group is being established, chaired by Cr Nicholas Cole, with Council staff, and community representatives, to provide support and decision making throughout the project. Participation is likely to involve approximately 4-5 meetings, until early 2024.
