Artist call out for public art and mural commissions

⁠⁠⁠We are seeking your expression of interest for a public art commission and a mural commission for the new Were Street Reserve in Montmorency.

Our intent
Were Street is a much-loved village that includes a vibrant mix of local businesses, a train station and Montmorency Primary School.

We are upgrading the streetscape, public toilets and open spaces, including the reserve. The inclusion of a public artwork and a mural will form part of the upgrade.

We are seeking 2 artworks (separate briefs) that respond to the site, the surrounding retail precinct and build on the body of existing public and community artworks.

Artworks should contribute to the identity of the area and enhance the experience for community members, park users and visitors.

Key Dates:

• 1 February: window to submit expressions of interest opens
• 26 February: submissions close
• 20 March: shortlisted and unsuccessful artists are contacted
• 17 April: artist presentations to selection panel
• 24 April: successful artist(s) selected
• 30 June: mural installation complete
• 15 December: public artwork commission completed
