Project Background
The Robina Scott Kindergarten Inc program is located at 83 Cecil Street, Williamstown. The building caters for up 60 children across the week with access to a small front yard playground area and a large rear playground.
The playground at the rear of the building was redeveloped during the 1990s.
It is expected the Robina Scott Kindergarten service will continue to operate at the front of the building during the construction phase, away from the redevelopment area.
Scope of project
The upgrade of the outdoor playground is to be undertaken to make the space accessible and inclusive for all children. This will require the removal and demolition of the existing playground features, including the timber retaining walls. The existing rear veranda will be widened by 1.8 metres, new, brick retaining walls installed and a new DDA Ramp from the rear veranda area, up into the playground itself.
There will be a stone paved area, a cubby house, a large play area with soft fall, and a sand small dry riverbed play area next to the existing rainwater tank. Concrete footpaths will link all of these areas for DDA access. A new storage shed will be built at the SE corner of the playground to store modular paly equipment for use in the soft fall ‘informal play’ area.
