The Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (The Department or DELWP) is seeking responses to this Request for Tender (RFT) T2022-0030 for the Provision of Labour Hire Services to DELWP during an Emergency Event.

The Department holds various responsibilities for the management of public land and natural resources including the prevention and suppression of bushfire in Victoria’s National Parks, State Forests and Protected Public Land covering approximately 7.4 million hectares or roughly one third of the state.

Each year, during the fire danger period, which generally occurs between November and April, the Department employs approximately 200 additional staff to complement its fire fighting force of approximately 1,500 people. This includes the Department’s statutory authorities such as Parks Victoria, VicForests and Melbourne Water.

Response to bush fire is the most critical and hazardous role for DELWP’s staff. Fires can occur in any terrain or forest types, resulting in a range of differing equipment types required to tackle a range of situations - alpine, coastal heath, swamp, plantation, through to previously burnt regrowth forests.
