Colac Otway Shire requires the services of a suitably qualified consultant to undertake an Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Assessment (ACHIA) for the Deans Creek Precinct Structure Plan (PSP) area.
The purpose of the study is to identify areas of Aboriginal cultural heritage sensitivity across the growth area through consultation with Eastern Maar Aboriginal Corporation (EMAC) who are the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) for this area.
The results of the study will be used to inform the preparation of the PSP, including the need for further assessments in the form of Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMP). The report is to provide recommendations about how Aboriginal cultural heritage can be protected and managed through the PSP.
A provisional item is the preparation of an Aboriginal Cultural Values Assessment (CVA). The decision to proceed with the CVA is subject to advice from EMAC.
