Rio Tinto is seeking a Contractor to assess the current and future likelihood of failure of approximately 1,013 minor cranes (monorail and Jib cranes) located at numerous mine sites across the Pilbara and subsequently provide a remediation action plan. The assessment shall also cover the runways and support structures of the cranes. The works will be carried out through physical observation on site.
The Contractor is expected to carry out the on-site assessment from the ground, a fixed platform or an EWP, depending on the location and height of the crane. The Contractor shall identify any defects and observe for any design or installation issues which may contribute to crane failure. Work duration on site is 12 hours per day, from 0600 to 1800, day shift only. Work is expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months.
The Contractor is expected to produce an inspection report after completion of works at each site. The report shall include assessment findings along with practical recommendations to make the cranes safe.
