Tender Description
Snowy Monaro Regional Council is intending to improve road safety along sections of Barry Way within the Snowy Monaro Region.
Snowy Monaro Regional Council is requesting a suitably qualified design consultancy to develop the functional and detailed design of the road upgrades, primarily shoulder widening and drainage improvements, with additional safety improvements including but not limited to safety barriers, road realignment and reconfiguration, traffic control devices, and other improvements where required. The extent of the road projects is listed in the table below:

The scope will be to provide adequate design to satisfy the program requisites as follows:
Widen shoulder widths by 1m sealed on both sides of the road.
- - Install wide painted profile (audio-tactile) centre line, Install profile (audio-tactile) edge Line.
- - Install painted median.
- - Install raised islands with additional stop or give-way, where required.
- - Install semi-rigid barrier on roadside, where required.
- - Improve sealed shoulder up to 2.5m on curve, Widen shoulder from 0.5m sealed to 1m sealed on straight
- - Improve drainage with shoulder widening, on cut side
- - Guard-rail / safety barrier with shoulder widening as required, particularly at stormwater pipe crossing
o Consider options for raising existing headwall to allow for shoulder widening and barrier installation
o Potential requirement for existing headwall stonework to be retained
- - Check clear zone for obstructions, i.e trees / boulders
- - Spoil management and disposal
- - Utilise fill opportunities to the gazetted boundaries
- Stakeholder access along Barry Way. This shall include the designer to determine the areas of land affected due to widening of shoulders. Designer shall provide total areas of land affected in m2 and fence line affected in lin. m in a format requested by Council and also assist in preparation of MOUs with the land owners along with permit to enter.
- - TCDs including delineation
- - Option to offset alignment, especially through cuttings
o Also to avoid services relocations, i.e overhead powerline
- - Minor pavement rehabilitation to be included, to allow for good interface off shoulder
