Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine - Head Contractor

⁠⁠⁠Summary of Engagement

The Community Safety Building Authority (CSBA) as an agency of the Department of Justice and Community Safety is undertaking building works at the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM). Suitably qualified and experienced Head Contractors are sought to deliver building works.

Building works will entail significant alterations and remedial works to the mortuary and coronial admissions and enquiries spaces, enabling works for installation of medical imaging equipment and upgrades to critical infrastructure including the substation and generator.

Head Contractors must have the capability to successfully deliver in constrained operational medical environments. Works will be staged in operational spaces, and the site must maintain service delivery throughout the works. Contractor must be qualified to undertake work up to $30 million.

Location of Works/Services: Melbourne Metro

Type of Contract (e.g., PPP model, Alliance, D&C, Construct only, Consultancy): Construct only with minor elements within the package nominated as design and construct.

Number of Pre-qualified Suppliers Selected: Five (5)

A market assessment will be undertaken to assess potential shortlisted suppliers from the CSR. Suppliers will be assessed on the following:

• Capacity to undertake works of the size and complexity of the project (contractor must be qualified to undertake work up to $30 million).
• Previous experience on projects of a similar nature (operational health environments).
• Experience with projects that require complex staging in live environments.
• Previous government experience.
