The AFOEM Education Committee is seeking 1 member as OTP lead.
The Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) Education Committee is seeking 1 member as Overseas Trained Physicians (OTPs) lead.
4 meetings of the AFOEM Education Committee are held per year; 1 face to face, and 3 teleconferences. Members will need to commit to attending the majority of meetings each year.
The term of membership for this position is 2 years, and the member will be eligible for re-appointment for a further 2 year term up to a maximum of 3 2-year terms of continuous appointments. The OTP Lead will be appointed by the AFOEM Education Committee.
Key responsibilities
- Advise the AFOEM Education Committee on issues arising regarding AFOEM OTPs
- Provide specialty advice to the OTP Committee and subcommittees, including information on the AFOEM Training Program and expectations of Occupational and Environmental Medicine specialists in Australasia
- Assist the RACP OTP Unit and OTP Subcommittees by conducting OTP interviews and occasionally participating in OTP Subcommittee meetings on behalf of the AFOEM Education Committee
- May eligible to be appointed the FEC representative on the AFOEM Policy & Advocacy committee (FPAC)
- General responsibilities
- Implement College Education policy as approved by the CEC
- Implement the College’s strategic direction in relation to education within AFOEM
- Ensure standardisation in training delivery in Occupational and Environmental Medicine
- Monitor the training program requirements and curricula.
Requirements
- In-depth knowledge of the College’s Occupational and Environmental Training curricula;
- Significant experience in one or more elements of the AFOEM Training Program, including curricula, assessment, teaching and learning, or education policy;
- In-depth knowledge of the AFOEM Training Program and what is expected of an Occupational and Environmental Medicine specialist in Australasia.
