Tender Description

AgriFutures Australia is seeking the services of a suitably qualified individual or organisation to deliver effective and efficient project management and engagement services for a suite of AgVet Access Grants.

Background

The AgVet Collaborative Forum Project

As new pests or diseases are identified, or animals and plants develop resistance to existing technologies, access to safe and effective agricultural and veterinary chemicals becomes critical to the success of our rural industries.

Increasing access to agricultural chemicals (AgChem) is the focus of the AgChem Access Priorities Forum (Forum), a collaborative process where plant-based Research and Development Corporations (RDCs) and commercial chemical registrants come together to deliver a cross-industry agreed list of priority needs for uses of agricultural chemicals.

Funded by plant-based RDCs and CropLife Australia, the Forum aims to promote information sharing, industry prioritisation and co-investment opportunities for supporting applications for AgChem uses. It was first run in 2015 and since then the annual forum has proven successful in facilitating interaction between the users of AgChem technologies and the businesses that produce them.

The Forum coincides with the Assistance Grants – Access to Industry Priority Uses of Agricultural and Veterinary (AgVet) Chemicals initiative managed by Australian Government Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment. The government-run program supports industry projects to generate sufficient data to support applications to the Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) for AgChem uses.

There is a separate Request for Quote that is to provide support to the Forum, advice to the Emerging Industry participants prior to the Forum to ensure a prioritised selection of chemicals are identified and nominated for the Improved Access to Agvet Chemicals initiative with adequate supporting information. When a grant is awarded, AgriFutures Australia, on behalf the rural industry, will manage the grant funds by directly contracting the chemical registrant for all trial work and subsequent registration processes.
