Alpine Shire Sport and Active Recreation Master Planning

⁠⁠⁠Alpine Shire is committed to helping develop active, connected and liveable communities through the provision of well planned, sport and active recreation facilities, programs and services throughout the municipality that are:

• multi-purpose and adaptable

• accessible and inclusive
• sustainable.

Council’s recently completed Sport and Active Recreation Plan has identified the need to undertake master planning for three key sites and an overall aquatics analysis in the municipality so that they can meet both the existing and future needs of the community. These sites are:
1. Pioneer Park, Bright
2. Mount Beauty Sports and Education Precinct, Mount Beauty
3. Myrtleford Town Centre sport and active recreation facilities

Each of these sites provides an array of sport and active recreation spaces and infrastructure of various sizes, ages, layout and condition. Some of the key challenges that these master plans aim to address include:
• Improving accessibility and inclusiveness for all
• Determining the need for additional facilities and infrastructure
• Identifying appropriate facility renewals
• Determining the best location for specific sport and active recreation activities
• Creating improved opportunities for informal recreational opportunities
• Determining ways to better activate spaces
• Creating improved active transport linkages to sites
• Developing partnerships and memorandums of understanding
• Responding to climate change and emergency management
• Identifying roles and responsibilities of all parties
• Improving safety
• Reducing the burden on volunteers
• Catering for events
• Roadways and parking

Alpine Shire Council is seeking the services of suitably qualified consultants to undertake the master planning of these three sites.
