Tender Description
This project is a follow-on from the Stage 1 works which are enabling works for the Otiria-Waiharakeke Spillway. The purpose of the Stage 2 works is to build a new three span concrete bridge on the western side of the existing T04 Pokapu Road Bridge. This longer and higher new bridge will enable a new spillway to flow below the bridge.
- Work consists of a number of overall tasks:
- Realign existing Pokapu Road to the west of its existing alignment
- With new approach ramps on both the northern and southern sides of the bridge.
- Gabion basket wall on the south-eastern approach to contain fill from existing spillway.
- Formation of access ramp for maintenance purposes and access to a neighbouring property, on the northern end of the existing T04 Pokapu Road Bridge.
- New entrance for the KiwiRail Logging Yard.
- Construct new three span concrete bridge, with concrete piles at abutments and piers into basalt rock.
- Demolition of the existing T04 Pokapu Road Bridge and downstream old bridge abutments and piers, once the new alignment is operational.
