Tender Description

DESE is currently undergoing a significant Digital Transformation. Major projects and changing expectations mean that DESE must bring together connected services across Education, Skills and Employment to deliver the Digital Business Strategy. As part of this large program of work we are modernising and transforming our services in line with the DTA Digital transformation strategy to ensure they are user centric, modern, modular and support re-use.

To support this, we are building a design and architecture team who will support the significant delivery programs underway, whilst also designing the changes that are required to deliver the modern technology platforms.

We are seeking candidates to provide UI/UX design expertise for our large Skills program of work that comprises multiple systems and solutions to deliver a modern digital platform. The candidate will need to work closely with other designers, architects, and delivery teams to design a holistic end-to-end approach to DESE ICT investments that better support citizen/business through effective digital services.

We’re looking for curious minds to help us work on modern connected and digital services that will support the delivery of the DESE Digital Business Strategy, integrate whole of government standards and initiatives and deliver a simpler modern customer experience.

The key activities the candidate will be involved in include:

- Conduct user research to gather insights into user needs and pain points.
- Demonstrating proficiency designing with modern tools such as Figma and Miro
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand the context and create requirements and constraints.
- Translate research insights into clearly defined problems and hypotheses.
- Develop interactive prototypes to address user needs, ensuring alignment to both the DESE Digital Business Strategy and Whole of Government standards.
- Test prototypes with users and stakeholders to ensure the product is user friendly, addresses the defined problems and provides a satisfactory user experience.
- Incorporate stakeholder and user feedback iteratively throughout the design process.
- Establish strong trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders including policy and program areas.
- Provide input and work collaboratively with stakeholders to help deliver the Department’s digital transformation agenda and consistent user experience.
- Apply an agile mindset to the work environment.
