⁠⁠⁠APRA is seeking one (1) Business Analyst (BA) to provide strategic and tactical business analysis support for key business stakeholders. The candidate will enjoy the hands-on aspects of the BA role as well as involvement in one of APRA’s key strategic projects.

The Approvals and Interpretations system is a workflow management tool used by APRA’s Advice and Approvals, Legal and Risk teams to manage requests for approvals, guidance and interpretations from internal and external stakeholders.

The Approvals and Interpretations system replacement project aims to replace the current out of life platform with an enterprise solution that will meet the needs of current (and potential) users across APRA.

Role
This is a contract role for a Business Analyst with a strong stakeholder engagement and process engineering focus to join the project. A key member of the project team, this role will work closely with stakeholders across APRA to elicit and capture requirements along with process impacts which will provide input into the design of the new Approvals and Interpretations system solution.

Key Tasks
• Preparing and running workshops and interviews with internal stakeholders across all APRA divisions to elicit and capture business requirements for a “to be built” system
• Analysing and documenting as-is and to-be processes to ensure the solution supports work practices and fits in with future ways of working
• Requirements gathering and definition using both Waterfall and Agile techniques
• Developing use cases and user stories as required
• Providing input and feedback to support change activities
• Providing feedback and guidance to support design
• Assessing solution options, their impacts and benefits by understanding business capabilities and priorities
• Planning, performing, reporting on all business analysis tasks and assistance with scope analysis, project planning, and other quality assurance activities

Required Experience/ Skills
• 7+ years working as a business analyst interacting with both technical and business teams
• Experience at collecting business requirements from a diverse stakeholder group with different expectations in terms of user needs
• Strong business analysis skills including requirements gathering and definition, analysis, business process mapping (as-is / to-be), impact analysis, running workshops, etc.
• Synthesising the business requirements into a statement of needs supporting an IT build
• Strong stakeholder engagement, negotiation and analytical skills
• Excellent communication, report-writing and presentation skills
• Strong experience with IT project lifecycle - analysis, design, build, test and implementation. Iterative, Agile and Waterfall experience
• Ability to work effectively with senior business and IT stakeholders
• Experience working on regulatory projects within the finance sector is desirable
