BACKGROUND
The main line valve (MLV) at Jemena’s Nowra Meter Station (538-MLV-1) along the Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP) has a stem leak which renders the MLV inoperable. Replacement of the MLV has been chosen as the solution and forms the basis of this project. To avoid shutting down the gas line to downstream customers.
It is necessary to first to undertake hot tapping to bypass the MLV for safe removal and replacement whilst maintaining gas supply to customers.
LOCATION
The Nowra MLV is part of the DN450 Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP). The MLV itself is buried underground and resides within the fenced-off station. Nowra Meter Station is located 5 km West of Nowra, NSW on Yalwal Rd. (left hand side 500m past Yalwal and Flat Rock Rd intersection);
The scope of work is to attend the Zinfra controlled site throughout the duration of the site works as well as manage the overall construction phase.
The Construction Contractor shall perform the following functions:
- Initiate and facilitate the hot tap works by coating removal, split tee welding and all the associated NDTs and pressure testing.
- Fabricate and site-install the temporary above ground piping required for the duration of the project site works.
- Remove and replace the existing MLV.
- Demolish all temporary piping to its original condition.
