Position Purpose
The EDW specialist will help the Data Services team to design, develop and maintain data assets based on architecture guidance, business data requirements and EDW development principles.
Key Responsibilities
Data Delivery
• Own the technical implementation of new data from analysis to delivery (designing and delivering data dictionary, defining the release steps, defining best practices of data modelling and review steps).
• Understand, analyse and size user requirements.
• Perform design reviews, consult on implementation best practices, lead release process and technical workshops.
• Review and refine the data delivery framework in order to enhance integration of new sources, performance of existing data delivery and rapid development of new subject areas.
• Set peer review and data modelling, development and release standards.
• Provide knowledge transfer sessions on best practices on development, data modelling, release process etc.
• Facilitate continuous improvement measures in delivery principles, coding standards, documentation and provide training sessions to team.
• Development, Optimisation and maintenance of SQL analytical and ETL code;
• Development and maintenance of system documentation;
• Collaboration with data consumers, database development, testers and IT support teams
Key Deliverables
This role will work within the Data Services team, and will be contribute to delivery of:
• Strategic data sets to enable data driven decisions and reporting
• Timely changes to existing datasets to reflect user requirements and introduction of new data.
• Work items placed into a product backlog
Key Skills
• Technical leadership
• Expertise in SQL
• Knowledge of metadata/model driven frameworks
• Experience working in an Agile environment
• Working knowledge of data development lifecycle
