Tender Description

The City of Hobart owns and operates the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre (DKHAC).

In 2016, the City undertook a number of investigations to look at the condition and performance of a number of items at the DKHAC, with a particular focus on the plant room and redevelopment in accordance with the approved DKHAC Redevelopment Masterplan.

A large proportion of the proposed plant room improvements are now complete, as well as the construction of a play centre in the leisure pool, and tiling of the pool concourse.

The proposed redevelopment of the Centre received planning approval in July 2018, however budgetary impacts has caused some components of the masterplan to be delayed.

Council has however recently been successful with two grant applications and will progress to building a warm water pool on vacant land at the DKHAC. The warm water pool forms part of the overall approved masterplan.

This warm water pool project will require a dedicated and focused project manager to ensure the project planning, design management, procurement and delivery is undertaken to a high standard and in a manner that minimises impact on Centre operations.

The primary responsibilities of the Project Manager is the delivery of Warm Water Pool and Carpark upgrades. Scope of works includes:
• Project management and delivery of the full construction drawing package including specifications, relevant technical reports, and associated documentation ready for tender of construction works.
• Evaluation and assessment of tender submissions
• Project management of the construction works including timely reporting of works, contract administration, and project control to ensure works are completed to approved budget, scope and time.
• Ongoing input and liaison with other council divisions and projects, and all key stakeholders

The Project Manager will also be responsible for the project management and delivery of the following ancillary works:

 Tiling to Café’s level and 50m dive pool concourse
 Project Management of the change room upgrade which is scheduled to commence on February 2022

The City is seeking the support of a dedicated project manager to work with the Aquatic Centre management team within the City Projects Office from January 2022 to June 2023.
