Council is seeking to refresh its Preferred Suppliers in the following category of goods and/or services:
Operation of the Kowanyama Concrete Batching Plant.
Proposed works - to undertake Cementous Concrete operations on call at the Council owned Concrete Batching Plant, Shelfo Road (opposite the Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council aerodrome).
Council seeks Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified parties to operate the Council owned concrete Batching Plant commencing 1 January 2022.
Safe operation of the Batching plant (using batching cards) located on Shelfo Road within work hours
• Hours of operation Monday to Friday 06:00 – 18:00 or asrequired.
Current prequalified/ preferred suppliers need not reapply.
All materials to be provided by successful contractor:
- 20mm aggregate;
- 10mm aggregate;
- Screened sand;
- Fine sand;
- General purpose cement and
- Water.
Materials to be sourced by Contractor where needed to meet the requirements of AS 1379 for (and where required AS 3600) the specification/manufacture and delivery of concrete:
- Add mixtures.
Carry out the following as required by Council:
- Slump tests in accordance with AS 1012 and
- Compressive strength tests in accordance with AS 1012 and results forwarded to Council.
Manufacture and delivery of concrete to Council projects and any additional projects as Council requires, all requests and dockets to go through Council Building Services team.
All materials to be replenished by contractor at end of contract.
Response required
Council is seeking a cubic metre rate for the operation of the Batching Plant and later delivery to site of batched concrete as required by Council.
The responses will be evaluated based on value for money, experience of personnel, and the value added of the proposed operating model.
The successful supplier will need to be responsive to the requirements of the Council Building Program and must deliver the required batch sizes to the time and quality required for each building project.
All Council equipment must be managed and maintained properly throughout the duration of the contract otherwise the contractor will be accountable for the cost of repairs.

Please note that Council reserves the right to undertake a final negotiation with the preferred supplier and if that process is unsuccessful then negotiate with the next preferred supplier.
