Tender Description
The City of Greater Geelong is currently installing a HotRot 1811 Composting system for the processing of Food Organics at its Anakie Green Waste site, complete with optional Hopper Unit.
The City now seeks a suitably capable supplier to supply, deliver, install and commission a second Food Organics Composting System to compliment the installation of the HotRot 1811, which must:
- be capable of receiving a continuous feed of organics material from an existing feed hopper;
- total peak power load cannot exceed 50 kW;
- leachate must be self-managed within the composting unit. There is no leachate management or storage capacity at the facility where the trial will be undertaken;
- Estimated range 550 - 730 tonnes of household generated food waste per year; and
- The composting unit must perform a pasteurisation process to meet time/temperature ratios as outlined in AS 4454-2012 (Australian Standard Composts, Soil conditioners and mulches) and EPA Victorian publication 1588.1 Designing, constructing and operating composting facilities. Namely, the whole mass should be maintained at 55°C or higher for a minimum of three consecutive days. To meet this material will need to be in a closed-vessel style unit longer to ensure if gets to and maintains temperature.
The unit will be delivered and installed at the City's Garden Organics Composting Facility located at Staceys Road, Anakie.
