Tender ID: 475696
Tender Details
Tender Description
Located in the Gippsland region approximately 145 kilometres southeast of Greater Melbourne, Wilsons Promontory was Victoria’s first National Park. With over half a million visitors per year, it ranks among the state’s most visited and most loved nature-based tourism destinations.
The park is part of an Aboriginal cultural landscape and Parks Victoria respects the deep and continuing connection that Traditional Owners have to these lands and waters, and we recognise their ongoing role in caring for Country.
Parks Victoria provides numerous facilities within The Prom to enhance the visitor experience, including serviced campsites, units and lodges at the Tidal River campground; a general store and café; outstation campsites; and network of walking trails. Ongoing visitation to the area has put pressure on existing infrastructure
As part of the November 2020 Budget, The Victorian Government has invested in the Wilsons Promontory Revitalisation Project to relieve this pressure, enhance the visitor experience at The Prom, and support Gippsland’s economic and social recovery from the impacts of recent catastrophic events (including COVID-19 and bushfires), through job creation and by renewing the region’s nature-based visitor economy.
The Wilsons Promontory Revitalisation Project includes a range of sub-project concepts which aim to enhance visitor experience and disbursement of visitation throughout the park that aims to manage traffic congestion, improve car parking and access for day visitors. In addition, concepts to be explored need to deter adhoc parking activities in peak season which damage the environment and present potential safety risks.
Concepts to be progressed include a range of traffic management ideas, changes to car parking including pedestrian connections and future introduction of a Park N Ride service.
This Request for Tender seeks to engage a Principal Consultant Team to develop concepts, undertake relevant land studies, detailed design, cost planning and preparation of tender documentation for the respective sub-projects through to practical completion.
