Expressions of Interest (EOI) for Surround Sounds 2022

⁠⁠⁠We are excited to launch Surround Sounds - Geelong & the Bellarine Music Festival, an adventurous new music festival that will strike a major note on the region’s annual cultural calendar.

Held across three weeks in April and May, and spanning city, coast and country of Geelong and the Bellarine, Surround Sounds aims to capture a wide variety of musical styles and experiences.

Surround Sounds - Geelong & the Bellarine Music Festival is part of Geelong Sounds, a new music initiative of the City of Greater Geelong which will promote our region as a place where music is celebrated, supported and happening.

Overview

• Geelong and the Bellarine has a strong live music history. Surround Sounds - Geelong & the Bellarine Music Festival seeks to consolidate and contribute to this proud heritage with a celebration of live music, presented in multiple locations across the municipality. The Festival celebrates the music, the people, the places and the spaces of the City of Greater Geelong.
• Surround Sounds - Geelong & the Bellarine Music Festival will feature concerts, workshops, multi-arts collaborations, and exclusive events. It will be designed to deliver a wide variety of musical styles and interests.
• Gigs in established venues, to intimate performances in secluded locations, Surround Sounds - Geelong & the Bellarine Music Festival will bring artists, venues and audiences together in a celebration of all-things music.
• With music as your anchor, we’re looking for ideas that create new opportunities for musicians and artists, activate local places and spaces, and engage with communities across the region.
• All events will benefit from the Festival event marketing and promotion campaign. In addition to this we can assist you with: risk management plans, including COVID-19 safety plans, and operational advice and support for your event.
• Connecting you to project partners such as musicians, artists, venues, equipment suppliers etc
• Navigating the requirements of permits, licenses, insurance, regulations, or agreements, if needed
• Event fees and/or subsidies, may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• We want to see this festival take off, so it’s in our best interests to help the best ideas succeed.

Expressions of interest now open
Surround Sounds - Geelong & the Bellarine Music Festival - invite Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from:

• Live Music Venues
• Arts and Cultural Venues
• Other Venues including community and business facilities
• Creative industry (musicians, artists, promoters, event organisers)
• Community Groups
• A curatorial committee will assess and review EOIs for selection in the final program.

Selection process
Applications close 5:00pm (AEST) Monday 22 November 2022.

Once you submit an EOI you will receive a confirmation of receipt. This confirmation does not guarantee acceptance of your application into the Surround Sounds program. Acceptance into the program will be at the sole discretion of the City of Greater Geelong.
