⁠⁠⁠Agency Purpose
Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) is an independent statutory authority established by the Australian Government to maintain an impartial and independent electoral system for eligible voters through active electoral roll management, efficient delivery of polling services, and targeted education and public awareness programs.

The Project
The Self-Service Platform project is providing a significant opportunity to transform the AEC's relationships with political participants, such as registered political parties and nominating candidates.

The project is implementing foundational capabilities that position the AEC to be able to conduct business with key stakeholders through an online Self-Service Platform, moving away from various ad hoc, manual processes.

The project will streamline current business processes which will benefit the AEC and political participants both at the operational and strategic levels.

  • The ideal candidate should be able to hit the ground running and deliver on tight timeframes. They should also possess the ability to communicate well and work with geographically separated stakeholders.
  • The Cloud Technical Writer's primary role is to work closely with technical resources to develop and document system, security and support methods and decisions for the SSP project. This will be achieved through working with the Solution Architect, the SSP project team and the AEC’s Digital Technology and Communications branch technical stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Cloud Technical Writer will have responsibility to:
• Discover and document all aspects of the project’s technical environment – including: Azure tenancy, Dynamics 365, Intelledox, .NET integration components.
• Deliver and/or maintain documentation to assist in security and legal processes such as IRAP and Privacy Impact Assessments.
• Produce architectural decision papers for review by the AEC’s Architecture Review Board or other similar boards or forums.
• Maintain the project’s overall documentation library in SharePoint and Objective.
• Implement best practice and ensure currency with industry trends, practices and technologies.
• Communicate with stakeholders, both internal and external.
• Liaise with business and technical areas to facilitate the timely resolution of issues as they arise.
• Other activities as directed.

Attributes and Skills

To be suitable for this position, you will have
• Strong experience in delivering ICT Documentation in an Azure cloud environment.
• Experience in the delivery of documentation supporting security and legal processes such as IRAP and Privacy Impact Assessments within a Commonwealth Government organisation.
• Experience in maintaining a document library.
• Ability to work in a team environment delivering a high level of customer service, with the ability to build strong working relationships and trust with clients, stakeholders, and senior management.
• Demonstrated high level of communication skills with effective active listening and written communication skills.
• Ability to develop trust and strong relationships with key personnel.

To excel in this position, you will also have these complementary skills
• Direct experience with Function Apps, Dynamics 365, Intelledox and/or .NET integration components.
• Experience with Sharepoint and/or Objective.
Politically Sensitive Position
Any person who is, and is seen to be active in political affairs, and intends to publicly carry on this activity, may compromise the strict neutrality of the AEC and cannot be considered.
Security Requirement
• Must be an Australian Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain a National Police Check.
• Baseline Clearance, or above, desirable though not mandatory
