RACP members are invited to join the Membership Diversity Advisory Group to develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive Membership Diversity Plan.
The purpose of the plan is to guide the College to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion of the RACP membership in all College activities.
The College is seeking to appoint up to 10 members to its Membership Diversity Advisory Group. The Group wants members to come from a range of backgrounds and perspectives who can develop and oversee the implementation of a comprehensive Membership Diversity Plan. Members will also provide expert advice and guidance on membership diversity, equity and inclusion.
Positions open include:
- 1 x Gender and Equity in Medicine Working Group representative
- 1 x Māori Health Committee representative or nominee as applicable
- 1 x Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Committee representative or nominee as applicable
- up to 4 x RACP Fellows with relevant skills and expertise
- up to 3 x RACP trainees with knowledge and interest in Advisory Group matters
Applicants are expected to:
- provide relevant interests, skills and expertise
- not represent any particular organisation
- attend Advisory Group meetings on a pro-bono basis

About the Membership Diversity Advisory Group
The Membership Diversity Advisory Group has a role in the College to remove barriers that may prevent diverse participation in physician practice and leadership roles and facilitates best practice in this area.

The functions of the Membership Diversity Advisory Group are to:
- develop a vision statement and to define diversity in the context of the RACP
- engage and consult with the RACP membership to develop a Diversity Statement of Commitment
- develop an RACP Membership Diversity Strategy and Framework
- develop an action plan to implement the objectives as set out in the Diversity Framework
- review and monitor progress against the Diversity Framework action plan on behalf of the RACP Board and provide progress updates as required
- work with all College Bodies for the successful implementation of the Diversity Framework action plan and adherence to the College’s Diversity Statement of Commitment across the College
- propose the inclusion of a diversity statement within the membership clause of all College Body By-laws and Terms of Reference
- promote the benefits of diverse representation on all College Bodies
- develop a communications strategy to inform the membership and relevant stakeholders of the College’s commitment to diversity
