Tender Description

Southern Ports was formed in 2014, following the amalgamation of the Ports of Albany, Bunbury and Esperance under the Port Authorities Act 1999 (WA).  Southern Ports is a Western Australian Government Trading Enterprise whose sole shareholder is the Government of Western Australia.

Southern Ports’ main functions are to:

a) facilitate trade within and through its ports and to plan for future growth and development of the ports;

b) undertake or arrange for activities that will encourage and facilitate the development of trade and commerce generally for the economic benefit of the State of Western Australia through the use of the port and related facilities;

c) be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the ports; and

d) protect the environment of the ports and minimise the impact of port operations on that environment.

The Port of Albany (Port) is located 400km south of Perth within the City of Albany.  The Port has capacity for additional trade and Southern Ports is seeking Expressions of Interest from proponents interested in either establishing or aggregating new trade through the Port.  Potential operating models include:

c) loading/unloading though privately owned infrastructure (either existing or proposed).

Product storage options will be dependent on product type and include:

b) shed storage within Port; or

c) off-Port stockpiling/storage.
