This project will assist in delivering riparian activities to meet the requirements of the Regional Catchment Strategy and Mallee Waterway Strategy.
Kings Billabong Park and Merbein Common are popular recreational areas adjacent to Mildura Central and the Merbein Township respectively. These public land areas are used by members of the public for birdwatching, bushwalking, fishing, and camping. The area has suffered from vegetation disturbance, and erosion due to vehicle disturbance. As a result of this activity there is now a significant network of unofficial tracks throughout this landscape. maintaing key access roads will reduce impacts on these sensitive areas.
