The Victorian Government is please to offer to market the following opportunity:
- A long-term leasehold interest;
- The business opportunity associated with Docklands Studios Melbourne;
- Six purpose-built sound stages with a combined capacity of approximately 10,000 sqm, including a new $46 million Sound Stage 6 (slated for completion in late 2021);
- Ancillary annexes and facilities, including a new three level annex and refurbished mess hall;
- A 6,170 sqm workshop and ancillary office building with eight bays of varying sizes for set and props construction, costume and storage; and
- The 6.4 hectare DSM site which includes land fronting Docklands Drive that is well positioned to facilitate built form DMP related development.
Alternatively, respondents may consider only the development opportunity fronting Docklands Drive, including the development of a new workshop and its air rights.
The State recognises that the market may adopt different approaches to the opportunity. Therefore, it is incumbent on Respondents to convince the State of the merits of their proposal.
Respondents are encouraged to present an innovative value proposition that responds to the State’s Vision and Objectives and demonstrates clear intent to maintain DSM as a world class film studio capable of attracting large local and international productions. Strategies for achieving operational objectives may include working with the existing Studios operator, or acquiring the operational rights of the DSM business.
Under either scenario, it is imperative that the value proposition is clearly articulated. Respondents are encouraged to consider any development and partnership opportunities beyond the DSM site which would further advance Government's objectives for the precinct.
