Council is seeking the engagement of experienced Building Surveyors with unlimited registration to assist the City of Kingston in managing existing and expected increases to the workload associated with the required functions of Council's Municipal Building Surveyor and Statutory Building Team.
The engagement of consultants for this period will enable Council to continue to manage the existing and foreseen demands of the industry, some of which are outlined as follows (not exhaustive):
- High risk building audits.
- Victorian Building Authority referrals.
- Swimming pool registration.
- Audits and resulting processes for dealing with combustible cladding locations.
- Higher risk enforcement sites led by inquiries into the waste and recycling industry.
- Representation on behalf of Council at the Building Appeals Board.
- Representation on behalf of Council at complex building legal matters.
The consultant/s will be authorised officers as required by the Local Government Act 2020 and any other relevant legislation. There may also need to be a process of establishing delegations, however this will be worked through with Council's governance team
