PROJECT A1: Lower Level 3 Precinct

⁠⁠⁠This Expression of Interest (EOI) has been issued via e-tender to Certified participants of the Construction SCM1461 Accreditation Scheme for Construction and Related Work Valued $1M and over. The purpose of this EOI is to assess interested suppliers to create a short list of suitable suppliers to be invited to a selective tender process for Construction Project A1 Art Gallery of NSW Lower Level 3 Precinct upgrade.

The Gallery is seeking Expressions of Interest from suitably builders with experiencing in delivering similar work at other cultural institutions or heritage sites. With the ability to demonstrate that they are able to manage/mitigate the specific site risks associated with work at this unique site.

The Art Gallery of NSW (the Gallery) is a significant cultural organisation and a major tourism destination for local, interstate and international visitors. The Gallery is open to the public 7 days a week between 10am and 5pm every day except Wednesdays when the Gallery stays open until 10pm. 

The Gallery is only closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday. The visitation level at the Gallery averages around 1.3 million visitors per year.

The Gallery displays and stores high value art works including the state art collection and national/international loaned works. The Art Gallery of New South Wales will be expanding with a new site (Sydney Modern Project) due for completion in 2022, in response to this expansion, the current building will undergo a number of upgrades.

The Lower Level 3 Precinct project is the creation of a new library space, upgraded Art Gallery Society members lounge, new volunteer’s hub, upgraded amenities and upgraded catering service area for the Domain Theatre.   

The designs for the fit outs have been completed and the project will be managed by the successful tendering builder. The builder will take responsibility for oversite of all trades and subcontractors on the project. Trades services required for the delivery of the project include façade fabricator, demolition, waterproofing, joinery, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical. The project does not include loose fitting furniture.
