Statewide Community Outreach for the Power Saving Bonus

⁠⁠⁠The Victorian Government is concerned about the impact of energy prices on consumers, particularly due to:

• the COVID-19 pandemic; and
• the scale of the impact on the most vulnerable members of the community.

Subsequently, a the $250 Power Saving Bonus (PSB) was launched on 1 February 2021, which is designed to assist the most vulnerable energy consumers.

Whilst awareness of the $250 PSB program is expected to reach a significant portion of target consumer cohorts through mainstream channels, there is a critical need to provide additional awareness and support for more hard-to-reach consumers.

The $250 PSB program subsequently requires tailored community outreach support to ensure that all eligible customers are:

• aware of the program;
• supported to access it; and
• informed of other beneficial energy affordability initiatives.

DELWP intends to award multiple contracts for the delivery of the SCO-PSB; all organisations engaged in service delivery will be required to work in consultation with the other contracted organisations to limit overlap in delivery (facilitated by DELWP).

The once-off $250 PSB is available to households with recipients that meet the eligibility criteria. To be eligible for the bonus, applicants must:

• be a Victorian residential energy consumer (i.e. have a residential electricity account).
• receive one of the following concession benefits:
• Centrelink Pension Concession Card
• JobSeeker, Youth Allowance, Abstudy or Austudy
• Department of Veterans Affairs Pensioner Concession Card

Notes: Please register for attendance to the bierfing session via the Vic Tenders website by 11:00am AEST 17 February 2021 via MS Teams. A maximum of two (2) attendees per organisation are permitted to attend. Attendees must submit their Deeds of Confidentiality by COB 11 February 2021 via email to energy.PMO@delwp.vic.gov.au. You will subsequently be sent a link to the briefing session.
