Jemena is planning to upgrade its existing Port Kembla Lateral (PKL) pipeline capabilities to strengthen the security of gas supply for the east coast gas market.

The Port Kembla Lateral Looping (PKLL) Project involves the construction of a 13 kilometres long, 18” (DN450) buried steel gas transmission pipeline and a new End of Line (EOL) facility in the vicinity of the Jemena’s existing Kembla Grange facility.

The proposed PKLL Project will connect to Australian Industrial Energy (AIE) proposed Port Kembla Gas Terminal and transport gas to local customers via Jemena’s Eastern Gas Pipeline (EGP).

The Services may comprise of the following:

1. Construction and pre-commissioning of approximately 13 km of DN 450 high pressure gas transmission pipeline between AIE Port Kembla Gas Terminal (PKGT) and the EOL Facility at Kembla Grange.
2. Construction and installation of approximately 370m of buried high pressure DN250 pipeline.
3. Construction and installation of approximately 120m of DN 450 high pressure gas transmission pipeline between the EOL and the hot tap tie in point on the EGP.

Jemena are seeking Expression of Interests from the open market. This EOI is the first stage of the Procurement process.
