Open Arms within the Department of Veterans’ Affairs is seeking expressions of interest from digital sellers to provide technical advice, development and support of an IOS/iPad/Android mobile application (app).
The app will support the creation and use of a safety plan utilising the SafeSide framework for Recovery-Oriented Suicide Prevention (SafeSide). Safety Planning is a systematic and comprehensive approach to maintaining safety for a suicidal client. Typically, a safety plan is developed collaboratively by a mental health professional and client while the client is not in crisis. Empowering clients by providing them with coping strategies to increase identification of an emerging crisis, and management strategies to resist suicidal thinking can reduce suicide risk in the immediate and longer term. The aim of the safety planning app is to provide clients with ready access to their own personalised plan. The app also ideally includes a “sharing” function in which a copy of the safety plan can be shared with important support people.
The successful seller will work closely with Open Arms to develop a solution by providing an approach to design, development and testing, prototype demonstrations, progress updates during development, beta testing, support for deployment and ongoing support and maintenance.
