The Department of Education, Skills and Employment is seeking an experienced UX / product designer to create new and improved online services across a range of employment related programs and channels, including Jobsearch.gov.au.
As part of the ambitious New Employment Services Model program of work, our design teams are committed to help job seekers and employers find each other by providing innovative services and nothing less than world-class user experiences.
The successful candidate will work alongside one of the best crews of service designers, user researchers, interaction and visual designers in government. You will be expected to lead the design of the user experience for a number of online services (e.g. ‘Apply for a job’, ‘Search for a candidate’, ‘Book an online course’, etc.).
As such, the ideal candidate will not-only be a hands-on practitioner with deep expertise in interaction design and usability but also a thought-leader with good stakeholder management skills. You should be versatile and proficient across a wide range of user experience practices, including user research, stakeholder engagement, information architecture, interaction design, UI/visual design, prototyping and testing. Showing a strong empathy for end-users and business owners alike, you will help translate high-level requirements and desired business outcomes into design principles, interaction flows and artefacts to deliver innovative and highly usable interfaces.
Applicants must demonstrate a deep understanding and experience of:
• The DTA Service Design and Delivery Process,
• The DTA Digital Service Standard,
• Agile ways of working and scaled agile practices,
• Qualitative and quantitative user research methods,
• User experience design and accessibility for online services.
As we are embarking on a large-scale project that involves a high number of teams and stakeholders, this role is based in Canberra with limited opportunities to work remotely. Applicants from interstate must be prepared to commute daily or relocate permanently.
