Warren Aerodrome Upgrade/ Refurbishment Works

Warren Shire Council invites experienced Airfield Construction Civil Contractors to tender for the refurbishment and reconstruction works as described below.

This work includes drainage, pavement construction including final asphalt overlay to apron areas, taxiways and Runway 09/27.
Warren Aerodrome (YWRN) is located on the Oxley Highway, approximately 5 kilometres South of the Town of Warren in Central Western NSW.

There are two runways at the aerodrome,
Runway 09/27 which is a sealed (paved) runway with a length of 1187 m, and
Runway 03/21 which is unsealed clay based, 1055 m in length.
Both runways were constructed in the mid 1950's.

There are several private light aircraft users both resident and visitors of the aerodrome, but the primary local user is Macquarie Valley Agricultural Services (MVAS) flying Air Tractor 802A and Air Tractor 602A aircraft.

The NSW Air Ambulance, RFDS, Angel Flight and Little Wings are also frequent users.

Defence is also a frequent user of Runway 03/21 with several training flights per month of C130J and C27J aircraft.
Currently Warren aerodrome is a registered aerodrome capable of taking aircraft up to 5,700kgs, on Runway 09/27. Council requires the option to increase the pavement design of Runway 09/27 to allow heavier aircraft such as the King Air B350 C, Jetstream 32 and SAAB 340B to operate from Warren Aerodrome.

Council has completed a full survey of both runways as well as geotechnical core sampling of the subgrade, base and subbase of Runway 09/27.
