Tender Description
The refurbishment of the Birthing Suites and a New Foetal Surveillance Unit is to be completed in the second part of 2020. The Works area is located on Level 5 in the main Monash Medical Centre building (MMC Clayton), which will be required to remain operational for staff and patients throughout construction. The works package includes construction of the following areas:
- Expansion of the existing birth suites through the development of an additional birth suite and three assessment spaces for preparing women prior to elective caesarean or other procedures as required.
- The development of a dedicated foetal surveillance and monitoring space for women presenting with complications or at risk pregnancies.
When the project is completed, there will be new Birthing Suites and a New Foetal Surveillance Unit with a few consulting rooms.
The scope of works will include Decommissioning through to Commissioning including testing to the relevant standards. The key deliverable of this project is the completion of the refurbishment of these new Birthing Suites and the New Foetal Surveillance Unit on time and within the allocated budget. Based on the complexity of the project it has been determined to appoint a single contractor to achieve the following objectives:
- Timely completion of works
- Ensure quality of works at each stage of the project
- Manage the effort and risk relating to engagement of multiple contractors
- Control project cost.
