Tender Description

⁠⁠⁠City of Darwin currently operates the Shoal Bay Waste Management Facility (SBWMF) which acts as the primary waste disposal facility for the greater Darwin region servicing the City of Darwin, City of Palmerston, Litchfield Council and the various industries that operate within these municipalities. This facility operates seven (7) days per week and operates between the hours of 6:00am and 6:00pm. Due to the nature of the operations of the site, vehicle access must be maintained at all times and no road closures are allowed to take place during these operational hours.

The scope of this project includes the following elements which will be delivered as two separable portions but delivered in a single contract:

Separable Portion 1

  •  Supply and installation of two (2) new weighbridges.
  •  Construction of an office building with canopy
  •  Associated roadworks including residential bypass lanes and parking for site personnel with shade structures.
  •  New entry road into the existing recycle shop facility, a new drop-off facility with a shade structure for personnel and changes to the internal traffic flow of the facility. 

Separable Portion 2

  •  Demolition of the existing weighbridge, office building and canopy and reinstatement of the road through the area of the existing weighbridge.

 

The facility shall have an operational weighbridge at all times. The delivery of a certified and operational weighbridge is one of the deliverables of Separable Portion 1 and the Date of Practical Completion for Separable Portion 1 represents the date at which the existing weighbridge can no longer be used.
