Tender Description
Integrity Systems Company (ISC) seeks full applications from suitably qualified applicants to undertake a global scan of other countries and industry sectors that have similar product integrity requirements as the Australian red meat industry.
The red meat integrity system provides on-farm assurance, animal identification and traceability from paddock to plate that guarantees the integrity of Australia’s red meat industry. It protects the disease-free status of Australian red meat and underpins the marketing of our product as clean, safe and natural.
The Australian red meat integrity systems are vital to minimising the risk presented by food safety and product integrity issues on farms to Australian businesses in this sector. To support the industry in managing these risks, the Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) program provides the baseline assurance that underpins Australian producers’ ability to stand by what they sell. Along with the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS), it ensures market access by allowing customers to have confidence in where livestock have originated from fulfilling their expectation of high quality products from Australian red meat producers.
ISC is seeking to provide a more focused and effective approach to improving compliance within red meat integrity systems, with a particular focus on the LPA program Standards. While all components of the LPA Standards are important for assuring the integrity of red meat products, there are some program elements that will arguably result in a higher impact in mitigating food safety and product integrity risks, if controlled effectively. With limited resources available to manage compliance, ISC is exploring mechanisms to better leverage these resources to further increase the integrity of the system and compliance overall through a risk-based compliance framework.
